There are at least two factions that will attempt to lead the Repubs out of the wilderness they are now consigned to. The Social Conservatives and the Fiscal Conservatives. The Economic Conservatives are in such disarray now they have little chance to do anything. My own belief is that the only chance they have to be successful in the next few years is as a fiscally conservative party. Bush was the very picture of the Social Conservative, and his faction got roundly trounced. If the Repubs let the Social Conservatives win, they will be out of power for a very long time.
